Is the WWPTBA a league ?

No - We are NOT a league. We are an association which fields competitive youth travel basketball teams.

Our travel teams compete in a variety of leagues in the winter season. The primary league is the Central Jersey Youth Basketball League run out of Ewing. Some of our teams also participate in leagues run out of the Monroe Sports Center.

When and where are the games played?

The Central Jersey Youth League (CJYBL) games are usually played on Saturdays or Sundays, and are held in the following locations:

Girls 4th and 5th grades Saturdays - Incarnation School, Ewing

Girls 7th and 8th grades Sundays - Pond Road Middle School, Robbinsville

Girls 6th Grade Sundays - WWP High School South

Boys 4th and 5th grades Sundays - WWP High School South

Boys 6th -8th grades Sundays - Ewing High School

The leagues run at the Monroe Sports Center to not have specific fixed days of the week, and time.

Why Sunday leagues?

Many winter travel leagues choose to schedule games on Sundays in order to reduce conflict with recreational leagues. Many of our players (particularly 4th-6th graders) enjoy playing on both travel and recreational teams.

When does the season begin?

Our winter season begins at the end of November - 1st week in December, and runs through February. Team practices usually begin the 2nd or 3rd week of November

When are tryouts?

Tryouts occur at the end of September - beginning of October.  Announcements for the specific dates and times will be posted on the web site, shortly after school begins.

When and where are practices held?

4th - 6th grade teams practice twice per week, during the week. 7th and 8th grade teams usually practice once per week, during the week. Practices are typically 1- 1.5 hours. All practices are held in WWP school gyms. The days and times of the practices are scheduled keeping in mind the coaches, and players availability, as much as possible. The practice schedules will be set shortly after tryouts.

Are there off season activities?

We typically offer optional training sessions in the spring and in the fall. Our off season training classes are run by professional experienced coaches and trainers. In addition, some of our teams play in optional out of season tournaments and leagues. This is dependent on player and coach availability.

Who are your coaches?

Our coaches come from a variety of backgrounds and experience. Some have played at the high school college, or professional level. Others have experience coaching youth basketball at the recreational or travel levels.

What is the registration fee?

The registration fee varies somewhat for the winter season, but typically runs about $280 for teams playing in one winter league. A couple of our teams choose to play in two leagues, at the coaches discretion. The exact fees are determined once we get the final costs from the winter leagues, and have a count for the number of team members. We are a non profit organization, so our costs are evenly spread among our participants, with the exception of teams that play in multiple leagues. The only costs are for uniforms ($49).  Uniforms are customized with the players names, and can be worn in multiple seasons, as long as they fit, so there is no need to order every year.
